Reading Session
We had a community garage sale today. I hate garage sales. Mommy, Grandma, and Grandpa handled the garage sale, and I was more than happy to take care of Michael. I enjoy spending time with him, but anything that gets me out of having to do a garage sale is already a win.
He slept most of the time. He's so adorable, he stays completely motionless when he sleeps, but he snores. He gets into a deep sleep ... my occasional coughing and sneezing (I hate allergy season) did not wake him up.
When he was awake, I sat him in bed next to me and read him a story. The hospital gave us a high-contrast black & white book called Look, Look! He really enjoyed it. He seemed to be getting a lot of intellectual stimulation from looking at the pictures and listening as I described what was on the page. I had to describe what he was looking at, since there is very little text in the book (about a phrase a page). Before I started reading to him, he was being fussy and crying. However, once the reading started, he seemed completely engaged and forgot all about crying. He'd coo and make noise from time-to-time.
I think he needed the mental stimulation.
