Peace and calm
I do my utmost best to keep a peaceful and conflict-free house. Especially now that Michael's born.
Michael is very, very sensitive to what he perceives as unhappiness or conflict.
If I've had a rough day, and I am stressed, he picks up on it. Even if I'm not arguing with anyone, and am trying my best to keep my bad mood to myself, he cues on it and also gets moody.
If I'm holding him and I shout across the room for someone to help me get something, he thinks that we are arguing and it upsets him.
So I've realized the best thing to do is to keep the household as peaceful and calm as possible. We already have a pretty calm household ... very rarely argue or raise voices. However, having Michael makes me realize even more the importance of tranquility at home.
It's actually a good thing for all of us. Helps us learn to be more patient, and to not get upset over small things.
