Raising my son to be active
I want to raise my son to be active. Of course, it's a bit difficult right now, since he really isn't mobile yet.
My efforts to get him to be active are limited to helping him move his arms and legs up and down, left and right, "baby aerobics" so to speak.
However, when he's a bit older, I want to raise him to enjoy being outdoors, to enjoy getting exercise and playing sports.
Not planning on pushing him to do so, just want to make sure he doesn't end up being a couch potato. I mean, I really enjoy playing video games and watching TV, but everything in moderation.
I went for a hour long bike ride this evening, and then came home and played a bit of video games to relax.
I figure that Michael will pick up on the activities and sports Daddy enjoys, especially since I'm going to encourage him to join in with me, and make it fun for him.
Not sure how I'll teach him if he wants to play a sport that I've never played growing up. For instance, I could teach him how to shoot hoops and dribble the basketball. I spent countless hours playing with friends during lunch in middle school, and just going down to the playground and shooting baskets by myself. However, I'm not sure what I'll do if he wants me to teach him to throw a baseball, or a football. I guess I'll just try my best to learn.
