Vantage Point
So, I had a great idea today. Now that Michael is able to sit up, I let him sit on my shoulders and carried him around. He really seemed to enjoy being "tall" and looking down at the rest of the world. I'm hoping he'll be tall (at least taller than Mommy and Daddy), so I'm trying to get hm accustomed to the idea of viewing the world from a high vantage point.
We bought his Christmas presents today. I'm not sure how many presents he'll actually have to open by the time Christmas rolls around. We bought him one, and he already opened it. He liked holding the wrapped present, so I let him hold it. I was in the office, he was with my wife, and I heard a ripping sound. He already started to unwrap it! *sigh*
Well, the good thing is that Michael doesn't seem too concerned with possessions or material things. I'm hoping to raise him to be non-materialistic ... live for experiences and knowledge.
I do want him to have some Christmas presents, though, as it's part of the experience. Wife suggested we take some of his existing toys and wrap them up on Christmas Eve. She said at his age, he wouldn't know any better, and he just likes unwrapping things. I thought about it, but it just didn't seem right, somehow. So we bought him some gifts, and I'm going to wrap them, and see if they can somehow stay wrapped until December 25th.
