Toys vs. The Real Thing
Michael loves cell phones. He likes Mommy's cell phone, and Daddy's cell phone.
One of my wife's friends got Michael a toy cell phone for Christmas. I figured I'd try a bit of reverse psychology, and pretended it was MY new cell phone, and I was making important business calls on it (yeah, the cell phone has Elmo on it, but I figured Michael wouldn't know the difference, being an infant and all).
Did not work. He pushed it away and tried to get the real cell phones. I don't know how he could tell, but he's definitely a sharp kid.
This evening was funny, I was watching him develop cognitive reasoning. I have a plastic Planters Deluxe Mixed Nuts container. We cleaned it out, and filled it with leftover Halloween lollipops. I opened it up and let Michael play with it (under VERY close supervision, do not want him to eat lollipops). He just took them out, put them in, took them out, put them in. He tried to close the lid, but couldn't quite get there, couldn't quite figure out how the process of screwing on the plastic lid worked.
