Pots and Pans Symphony

Michael's been playing instruments.  He plays the pots and pans.  It's a cacophony of CLANGS, BANGS, DINGS, and SCREECHES.

It hurts my ears.  Wife and family went in the other room when he was doing it and left me to watch him.  They wanted to take the pots and pans away from him, but I have childhood memories of playing the pots and pans myself, so I really didn't think it would be right to deprive him.

The worst is when he takes a pot lid and drags it across the kitchen tile floor.  It makes me cringe, nails-on-chalkboard.  Plus, as a grown up, I'm envisioning the damage it's doing to my kitchen floor, and to the pot lid.

I was a bit concerned about him damaging his eardrums from clanging on the pots and pans, but I figure I did it as a kid and I can hear just fine.  It really was loud and gave me a headache.

Nice thing about kids, they teach you not to be materialistic.  After a while, I've learned to just let go and figure hey it's only a cell phone, as long as he doesn't hurt himself, it doesn't matter that he's bashing my cell phone against the kitchen floor, or using the cell phone to scrub tiles.  He saw someone scrubbing tiles with a sponge, I think, and decided that a cell phone would scrub just as well.

It does make me not want to buy nice things, though.  I have an old cell phone, it's a dial-and-receive-calls phone.  I've thought about getting an android-based phone or an iPhone, but I know Michael would just destroy it, and it's a lot tougher when he destroys something new and expensive.
