Comfortable in water
Michael is 100% comfortable in water. I can hold him on his front or back and he can practically float, though I still need to keep a hand on him since he doesn't know how to come up for air. If I carry him around the pool in my arms and let the water get up to his neck, he doesn't panic whatsoever.
I don't see any fear of water in him, which is wonderful.
He also knows how to put his hands out and "reach" for the wall. It won't be long before he will be able to launch himself and kick. I think that's going to be easy, teaching him the swimming strokes. The difficult part I believe is getting the kid into the water, and not scared of the water, and he's already got a complete comfort level in the water.
He even accidentally took a step down from the pool steps before I caught him, and his whole head went underwater for a moment. Not the slightest bit of panic or concern.
We were at the pool for about an hour.
