More Vocabulary and counting to 10

Michael's really starting to expand his vocabulary.

He can "fill in the blanks" when we count to 10 in Mandarin.  Here's a typical Mandarin counting session with Michael:

Mommy: "Yi1"

Michael: "Er4"

Mommy: "San1"

Michael: "Si4"

Mommy: "Wu3"

Michael: (..., ..., ...)

Michael: (..., ..., ...)

Mommy: (waits) ... "Liu4"

Mommy: (waits) ... "Qi1"

Michael: "Ba1"!  "Jiu3" "Shi2"

I'm amazed, he's got the tones correct.

He also knows how to say the following:
  • ming3-bak6 (Cantonese for "Understand")
  • jie3-jie (Cantonese/Mandarin for "Big sister")
  • Ao1-Men2 (Mandarin for "Macau")
I'm pretty impressed that he remembers ming-bak.  A few months ago, when I was trying hard to explain something important to him, I would end the statement with ming-bak?!, basically asking him if he understood or not.  I recall him silently staring at me with open eyes, taking it in.

Of course, Michael still says his favorite English word, Shop-ping.
