Chuck E Cheese
We spontaneously took Michael to Chuck E. Cheese for the first time.
We just left the library, and were on the way to the mall, when I realized we were passing by a Chuck E. Cheese. I have great childhood memories of Chuck E. Cheese, so I figured I'd take Michael. Was a little bit tentative at first, since he's not even 2 years old yet, and I know I was quite a bit older before I went for the first time.
Chuck E. Cheese is just as I remember it ... a madhouse of over-caffinated, hyperactive kids, with tons of lights, sounds, noise, and video games. It's stimulus overload for anyone over the age of 10.
Michael oscillated between tears (because something scared him / overwhelmed him), and laughing and dancing (because he found something he enjoyed).
He really didn't seem to care too much for the toddler-oriented rides, where you put a token in in and sit in a little car or train that rocks back and forth.
However, he liked this dancing game that's similar to Dance Dance Revolution (only for kids).
After he seemed to be getting tired, I had one token left, and I decided to play a grown-up video game. Went and found some Sega Kart game, where you sit down and race. Michael sat on my lap and drove the steering wheel. He was seriously into it, it was his favorite!
