Michael's reaching an age where he's picking up vocabulary at an exponential rate. He can hear a word or expression once and retain it.
My wife was reading from a children's book in Mandarin, one phrase at a time, and Michael would repeat the phrase after she finished. So cute, hearing his little toddler voice trying to navigate the tones of the Mandarin dialect.
When he wants to accept something that's being offered to him, he has this really funny way of affirming. It's a subdued, but firm nod of his head, followed by "HMMM" Like if I ask him, "Michael, do you want to go to Publix and get a cookie??!!" in an excited voice ... he won't get excitable, he will simply nod his head once and say "HMMM".
He is also very stubborn and strong-willed. Even in his responses. I was absolutely astounded this morning, I told him "Michael! Michael! Mommy is sick. She's not feeling well. I need you to be good today. Can you be good?"
Michael (two word response, really clear): "AM NOT"
I'm certain understood what I asked and understood his response. Well, at least he's honest. :-D I guess he didn't want to commit to being good.
