Raspberries

Michael very rarely comes upon a new food he doesn't like. Last one was quail eggs. Other than that, he pretty much loves every food he tries.

Michael saw me washing raspberries and wanted some this evening. He was really good, just sat and ate one at a time. He would even feed me and make sure I had one in my mouth before he popped one in his own mouth. I kept a count and he ended up eating 18!

He kinda shuddered at the first raspberry, but then decided he liked it, and kept eating and eating. I noticed he wasn't going to stop eating, so I just ate faster, and said "sorry Michael, no more." He gets "no more". If I take away the raspberries, he'll put up a challenge. However, he gets the universal concept of "no more, all eaten", and doesn't get angry. He really does have a worldliness, for such a young toddler.

Also ... as a parent, I am really grateful that I don't have to worry that much about him putting something in his mouth he shouldn't.

He’s too cautious. He watches what Mommy/Daddy/Grandma/Grandpa consider to be "food", i.e. put in our mouths. Michael will eat what we eat, or will eat what we put in his mouth. Nothing else. He won't even accept food samples from strangers at Sam's Club, unless it has first been vetted by a parent or grandparent. If an employee hands him a cookie, he won't eat it. However, if the employee hands me a cookie, and I give it to him, he'll eat it. I am SO thankful for his strong survival instinct and caution.
