Girl Problem
Michael definitely has a girl problem ... he's terrified of them!
We went to Gymboree yesterday evening. They have these little kid chairs (3 of them, green, blue, and orange), and he was having a wonderful time pushing around the little chairs into a line and making a "train". He was so happy!
Then out of nowhere, a little girl, maybe 3 or 4 years old came into the store with her mom. Really adorable little girl, curly blonde hair, and cute gold princess dress. She decided she was going to play with Michael while her mom was shopping.
Michael FREAKED out and tried to keep his distance. So she kept following him. The more he tried to maintain distance, the more she followed him. Pretty soon she was chasing him around the store. Michael does not yet understand that the more he runs, the faster she will chase him. He was running as fast as his little toddler legs would carry him.
As parents, me and my wife thought it was cute, and we laughed and said "oh look, Michael has a little girlfriend!"
Poor Michael was genuinely terrified and started yelling "M-SAI GENG" (Chinese for "do not need to be afraid") as he was running. He usually yells this when he's afraid.
At one point she caught up with him and gave him a hug, and he dashed over to me, grabbed my leg, and wailed "PAAOOOOOOOO" ... which is Chinese for "hold/carry." Basically, he was telling me that he wanted me to pick him up and hold him (probably figuring that would put him out of her reach).
It was quite funny, and the little girl's mom seemed embarrassed and apologetic, but I told her don't worry, it's really a good thing for Michael to interact with other kids.
