Little Tenn in Tennessee
Michael had his first trip to Tennessee today ... Chattanooga, Tennessee to be specific.
We went to Ruby Falls. Michael was really scared at first about being in a deep, dark cave, but when we got to the waterfall room, with the lights and music, he was just staring up in awe and amazement.
Michael has this gaze of pure, innocent awe when he's viewing something that he's never seen before that overwhelms him. The waterfall definitely did it.
Toward the end, he was happily walking/marching/dancing back.
I was really proud of him that at his age, he was able to walk Ruby Falls.
We also took him to the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel (it's a former train station that was converted into a hotel). It's really cool. However, he was fussy at that point.
We took him into the Model Railway Museum there. For adults, there wasn't much to see, but he was fascinated by it. They have these steps that are higher for viewing down at the model trains and landscape. He stepped through one and pitched forward. I managed to grab him by his ankle, and yelled to my wife HONEY GO GO GO and she ran down and grabbed him. I guess it probably wouldn't have hurt him, it's only 3 feet to the ground, but there's something about parental instinct when you see your kid pitch over something. Scared the heck out of me. Just glad he was okay.
