Superbowl Buddy
I am holding out hope that I'll be able to watch the Superbowl this year.
As a father, I would never place something like watching a silly game as more important than spending time with my son.
However, I do recall in years past (actually ever since he was born), that while everyone is talking about the game and going to Superbowl parties I was rocking him in my arms (2 years ago), or crawling around the ground with him (1 year ago).
I have not watched a football game (either college or NFL) in its entirety since Michael has been born.
This year, he is alert, communicative, and cognizant. I've gotten him pretty hyped up about the game. I've been running around the house saying "football, football, football!" and jumping up and down with him. Today he would run up to me and say "foot-ball!"
I've told him it's a special day, and since he's a big boy now, he gets to be Daddy's Superbowl buddy and watch the Superbowl with Daddy, and can even eat potato chips and junk food. If I say "Michael, can you say superbowl?", he will look at me and say "su-per-bowl".
He's definitely hyped up ... I just hope that it works.
