Chicken Wings
Michael had a wonderful day today.
We took him out to the mall, he rode the train. We then took him to have hot spicy chicken wings. He loves hot wings. Mommy had a lot of hot wings when she was pregnant with him, so I believe that's why he likes them today. Either that, or he just loves pretty much every food and hot wings fall into the "food" category so he loves eating them.
He's a little bit selfish with the french fries. I bought him a basket of fries, and he wouldn't share them with me. When I reached my hand in to take a few, he freaked out. He also grabbed a handful of 10 or so, figuring that he could "preserve" them by doing so, and not have to share whatever he could hold in his hands away from Daddy.
I explained to him that was unacceptable, and he backed off and dumped the handful of fries back into the basket. I also explained to him that Daddy has the ability to order more food if we run out (last time we went for hot wings, I ordered a second basket of fries), but I would not do so if he would not share with me and Mommy.
He relented, and (grudgingly) shared his fries.
After eating TONS of fries and wings, we got take-out for Grandma. Michael was singing about take-out wings, and I could tell that he was going to go after Grandma's chicken wings as soon as we brought them home to her.
We took him to Publix afterward and he had 2 chocolate chip cookies. They give cookies away to kids there to keep them under control / placated while parents are shopping. Seems like a good business strategy to me. Most kids get one. We had to go back and ask for a second.
I guess it must have been enough, because he let Grandma eat her take-out wings without demanding any.
Michael and his little sister get along wonderfully. He's very loving and protective of her, and he has already expressed willingness to share his toys with her. He's picked out a few of his toys and said they belong to "little sister" and won't let Daddy or anyone else play with those.
I predict if our kids fight when she is bigger, it will be about food. They both love to eat, but since she's only nursing and drinking formula right now, there's nothing for them to fight about. Someday they'll both have their own baskets of french fries, and one of them will finish first and go for the other's fries, and I'm sure that's when the battles will start.
