Spontaneous Storytelling
After a VERY rough day with Michael yesterday, today was great.
Both him and Zoey were up early this morning, around 5 AM. Zoey cried and woke him up, and we were dealing with 2 upset children.
Michael wanted Grandma to take him back to sleep, but she was taking care of Zoey. So I told Michael I would take him back to bed. He wasn't happy and fussed, but I managed to get him in bed, and just spontaneously started telling him a story ...
"Once upon a time, there was a Mommy, a Daddy, and 2 children named Michael and Zoey ..."
He listened with rapt attention. Just made up a fanciful story about the whole family riding on the back of gigantic birds across the world. I could see him staring at the ceiling and just imagining, which was awesome. He asked me questions as I was telling the story, about what kinds of fish the birds ate. I thought that was really cool.
