Belt-testing and swimming

Michael has been in Taekwon-do for about 3 months now. It has done wonders for his self-confidence, and really helped his maturity. He's been very thougtful and considerate, and becoming quite the young gentleman, always looking out for and thinking of his little sister.

He got his yellow belt last week. He had his testing on Monday, and belt ceremony on Thursday. He was so proud of bringing home his new yellow belt that he went to show Grandma and Grandpa immediately.

He's also been doing very well with swimming. His elementary backstroke technique looks very good now, and Ms. Susan (his swim teacher) has started him on freestyle. That's been a bit of a challenge because he doesn't "hmm" (exhale) underwater as much as he should. By the time he turns his head to take a breath (she has him starting on side-breathing every 4th stroke), he has to exhale and inhale. There just isn't enough time on a side breath to exhale and inhale, so we need to get him to completely exhale before taking his breath.
